Warriors fall to Raptors; Quotes of the night

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Golden State Warriors fell to the the Toronto Raptors in their first preseason game of the new season. Here are some of the best quotes from last night.

The Golden State Warriors were back in action and they still haven’t found a way to win a game. The Warriors continue their spiral, losing their fourth consecutive game. They fell to the Toronto Raptors 97-93 in Vancouver.

It was probably about as highly-anticipated as a preseason game can get. Kevin Durant’s debut for his new team had everyone buzzing. The Warriors are the heavy title favorites and last night was the beginning of that campaign.

While the game doesn’t mean anything in the standings, it was an opportunity to see what the Warriors have. It helps Steve Kerr and the team figure out how to use all their talent. It’s also fun to have some basketball back.

The Warriors struggled and looked lost at times. The stars didn’t play up to standard. But it is the first preseason game of the season so, obviously, it’s a work in progress. Kerr probably summed it up best.

Every time he touched the ball, Durant was boo’d. Clearly, people still haven’t gotten over his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder. Stephen Curry opened up about it.

Durant added that he heard more cheers than boo’s. He said it doesn’t really bother him, commenting “they cheer, they boo, it’s all good.” He doesn’t seem to be taking it too hard.

Patrick McCaw stood out in this one. He scored 11 points, came away with 5 steals, and dished out 4 assists. The Warriors have high hopes for him as he could be the steal of last year’s Draft. Curry and Durant both had high praise for the rookie.

The Warriors were rough in this one and they know it. But they have a lot of things to be excited about moving forward.
