Wade reveals son born before engagement to Union
Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade just got engaged to actress Gabrielle Union last week, and now he's announcing baby news.
No, the power couple isn't expecting (that we know of). Instead, Wade was confirming reports that he'd fathered a child with another woman while he and Union were "on a break."
Wade called the baby, a boy born in September, a "blessing" in his meeting with reporters before the Heat played the Denver Nuggets on Monday.
"I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy. So I'm moving on," said Wade.
As for the birth of his son making news, Wade took it in stride.
"I'm in the public eye, so obviously that's a part of it. It comes with the territory," he said.
According to EOnline, Union has remained silent while she is apparently on vacation and her reps haven't responded to requests for comment.
Still, the NBA star says the couple's relationship is strong.
"Like I've said, this is something that my family knows and my now fiancé worked through when we got back together," Wade told the Miami Herald, "and understood that we wanted to continue our lives together and continue supporting our family and we're going to do that. That's what I've always done."
