The Latest: Detective believed Odom overdosed on cocaine

LOS ANGELES (AP) The latest on the recovery of Lamar Odom, who was found unconscious last week in a Nevada brothel (all times local):

12:30 p.m.

A Nevada sheriff's detective who obtained a search warrant the night Lamar Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel told a judge he believed the former NBA star overdosed on drugs including cocaine.

Court records obtained Thursday by The Associated Press reveal the warrant said prostitutes told police they believed Odom snorted cocaine in a bathroom while they were in the adjacent bedroom Oct. 13.

Brothel officials have told reporters that workers saw Odom drink alcohol and take supplements sold as ''herbal Viagra,'' but no employees saw him take illegal drugs.

The judge authorized police to obtain a blood sample from Odom, who had by then been taken by ambulance to a Las Vegas hospital.

Odom's family said Thursday that he is improving as he undergoes therapy in Los Angeles.

Lamar Odom's family says his speech is improving as he undergoes therapy in Los Angeles more than a week after the former NBA star was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel.

A statement released Thursday by Alvina Alston, publicist for Odom's aunt JaNean Mercer, says Odom ''is beginning to gradually flourish both mentally and physically.''

Alston calls Odom's therapy regimen ''aggressive,'' but she does not elaborate.

A day earlier, Odom and reality star Khloe Kardashian filed a court petition dismissing a divorce filing from December 2013.

Kardashian has been by Odom's side since he was found in extremely critical condition Oct. 13 at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada, and hospitalized in Las Vegas.

The brothel said workers saw him drink alcohol and take supplements sold as ''herbal Viagra.''
