T-Wolves' Flynn plans to go to D-League

Minnesota guard Jonny Flynn plans to report to the Timberwolves' development league affiliate in Sioux Falls, S.D., for a game on Friday as he works his way back from hip surgery.

Flynn has yet to play in a game this season. He had surgery on his left hip in July and has started ramping up his workouts over the past few weeks.

The second-year point guard has been dealing with expected body soreness as the intensity has increased, but is eager to return to the court to help his young team, which carried a 4-13 record into Wednesday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Flynn said time on the practice court has helped his conditioning, but he needs to get into a game.

''I'm just looking to get back in the flow of things,'' Flynn said. ''In practice situations, you can't do what you do in game situations. I think everyone knows it's important for me to go down there, get some of the rust off, get my rhythm back and get my timing down.''

Flynn said his hip feels great.

Coach Kurt Rambis is unsure when Flynn will be activated by the Timberwolves.

''We'll just see how he feels,'' Rambis said. ''We'd like to see how he does, and see if he's in sync and in rhythm. He might want a couple more games (after Friday). It's tough to be thrown into a regular-season game, so we want him to feel very comfortable. We also want him to be in a situation where when he does come back, he comes back for good. We just want him to come back and finish the season with us.''
