Sources: Dragic won't return to Suns, tells team where to trade him
The NBA trade deadline must be getting close, because suddenly Goran Dragic is being treated -- and making demands -- like he's the second coming of Magic Johnson.
And according to the latest reports, the suddenly hot Suns point guard wouldn't mind playing for the team Johnson led to five championships.
According to multiple reports, the impending unrestricted free agent told the Suns on Tuesday he is ready to move on to a new team and that he will not re-sign with the club this summer. Later in the day, sources told Yahoo Sports!/FOX Sports 1 NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski that Dragic's agent, Bill Duffy, gave the Suns a list of teams to which Dragic would prefer to be traded -- a list which includes the Lakers, Knicks and Heat, but does not include the Rockets.
Wojnarowski added the Pacers could also be in the mix.
The trade deadline is 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, giving the Suns less than two days to work out a deal for a 28-year-old point guard who signed a four-year, $30 million deal with the Suns in the summer of 2012, but who also holds a player option for next season. Clearly, he won't be exercising that.
Dragic scored a career-high 20.3 points per game last season, and has averaged more than 18 points, six assists and three rebounds per game since signing his current contract. But this season his scoring is down to 16.2 ppg and his assists are down nearly two per game from last season as Phoenix added Isiah Thomas and re-signed Eric Bledsoe to, at least in the eyes of Dragic, clog up the backcourt.
