Reports: Shawn Marion agrees to join LeBron in Cleveland

Published Aug. 17, 2014 11:49 a.m. ET

Free-agent forward Shawn Marion will be teaming up with LeBron James as he has agreed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to reports.

Marion, who played for the Mavericks last season and averaged 10.4 points per game, wanted to play for a contender, reports indicated. He was also reportedly being pursued by the Indiana Pacers, which figure to be without Paul George for the 2014-15 season after gruesomely breaking his right leg.

Because the Cavaliers are against the salary cap, the team can only offer him a $1.4 million deal this season, ESPN.com reports. Marion made over $9 million last season.
