Report: Pistons to offer Smith deal

Published Jul. 1, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

The Pistons have reportedly focused their free-agent efforts on one star.

Detroit is planning to make a “substantial” offer to forward Josh Smith, according to Yahoo! Sports. The deal will reportedly be for four years.

Smith, who has spent his first nine years in the league with the Atlanta Hawks, averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season.

The Hawks are more interested in pursuing a sign-and-trade deal involving Smith than re-signing the versatile forward, according to Yahoo.
