Report: Pelicans re-sign forward Luke Babbitt

Published Jul. 21, 2015 2:00 p.m. ET

It's official -- roster consistency is the name of the game for the New Orleans Pelicans.

One of the last remaining Pelicans free agents has officially re-signed with the team, as New Orleans announced on Monday night the re-signing of free agent forward Luke Babbitt.

If you know Babbitt, you know that he's a 3-point shooter of the highest regard. Teams simply don't leave him alone when he's on the floor, and that kind of spacing is invaluable in allowing Anthony Davis to operate at his best.

The re-signing of Babbitt leaves point guard Norris Cole as the only remaining noteworthy Pelicans free agent. His future with the team is uncertain, as there have been reports indicating he'll go elsewhere and reports that he'll re-sign with New Orleans. Some of that uncertainty is likely predicated on how much Gentry plans to use Tyreke Evans at point guard, which could cut down on playing time for Cole.
