Report: Nets have 'no interest' in recently waived Tony Wroten
When the 76ers waived Tony Wroten over the weekend, he wasn't able to find an immediate home. None of the few teams in a cap-friendly enough situation to claim Wroten actually did so, and the former Sixers guard passed through waivers and into free agency Saturday evening.
Still without a home, Wroten is trying to find a new team to sign him. It looks like the Nets won't be that team, so says Fred Kerber of the New York Post:
Wroten, whose season ended last year after he sustained an ACL injury, has only played in eight games this season, watching both his production and playing time fall from a year ago, when he averaged 16.9 points per game pre-injury. This year, he's shooting just 34 percent from the field, but it takes a while to come back, both physically and mentality, from an injury as serious as one to the ACL.
He's only 22 years old. He's an athletic guard. Those two traits are ones the Nets could use—youth and athleticism—but Brooklyn's roster is already full with 15 guys. The Nets would need to cut someone to make room, and that seems unlikely. So, Wroten likely won't come to Brooklyn. No need to keep worrying about that one.
A league source said Nets have no interest in guard Tony Wroten, who was waived by Sixers on Thursday and cleared waivers Saturday. Wroten had 29 turnovers versus 20 assists for the Sixers in eight games.
