Report: Mavericks a favorite to land DeAndre Jordan
By Vincent Frank
A recent report from ESPN’s Tim MacMahon indicates that the Dallas Mavericks are the team the Los Angeles Clippers most fear when it comes to the potential of losing center DeAndre Jordan in free agency.
Citing sources close to the situation, MacMahon reported that Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons met with Jordan in Houston the weekend before last and then traveled to Los Angeles to meet with Jordan immediately after the draft on Thursday.
With Tyson Chandler set to become a free agent, the Mavericks are surely in need of help in the low post. Adding someone of Jordan’s ilk (15.0 rebounds, 4.8 offensive rebounds per game in 2014-15), would be absolutely huge for Dallas in the Western Conference. It’s that type of defensive presence that can change the outcome of multiple games throughout the season.
While Dallas is favored to land Jordan, it’s important to note that he still has scheduled visits with the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers. The Milwaukee Bucks are also attempting to sit down with Jordan. All four teams have the resources to offer Jordan a max deal.
