Report: Hornets cut ties with play-by-play announcer

Published Apr. 24, 2015 12:58 p.m. ET

The Charlotte Hornets announced this week that radio play-by-play announcer Scott Lauer would not be with the team next season, according to a report from the Charlotte Observer. Lauer had served with the Charlotte organization as a broadcaster for 11 years.

“I’m very appreciative of 11 seasons broadcasting the Hornets,” Lauer said during a telephone interview with Rick Bonnell of the Observer. “Growing up, if you told me I’d get 11 years in the NBA, I’d be all-in on that.

“They gave me my start in this league. But I look forward to serving with other organizations in the NBA. It was a joy the last two seasons working with coach (Steve) Clifford.”
