Report: Hawks close to acquiring Hinrich

Published Feb. 23, 2011 8:30 p.m. ET

A person with knowledge of the talks says the Atlanta Hawks are finalizing a deal to acquire guard Kirk Hinrich from the Washington Wizards.

The Hawks would receive Hinrich and forward Hilton Armstrong in exchange for guard Mike Bibby, rookie guard Jordan Crawford, swingman Maurice Evans and a first-round pick in this year's draft.

The person spoke to the Associated Press on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.

The trade would boost the Hawks' backcourt for the season's stretch run as they try keep pace in the top-heavy Eastern Conference.
