The Washington Wizards will not extend Bradley Beal's contract before tomorrow's deadline, which means the sharp-shooting guard will hit restricted free agency next summer.
This news isn't necessarily discouraging, or all that much of a surprise. The Wizards want as much cap space as they can get heading into next summer, and there's no reason to have Beal's deal clog it up when they can match any offer sheet any way.
As good as Beal is, acquiring Kevin Durant is the number one priority.

Wizards, per sources, won’t extend @RealDealBeal23 before deadline. Still hope to sign impact FA in July, then re-sign Beal, who’ll be RFA.
