Pelicans' Anthony Davis sitting out vs. Warriors because of chest injury
New Orleans forward Anthony Davis will sit out the Pelicans' game Sunday night against the Golden State Warriors because of a chest injury that occurred Friday night in a victory over Cleveland.
Pelicans coach Monty Williams says Davis is sore and the club wants to be cautious about an injury the coach referred to as a "freak deal."
Davis left Friday night's game in the first quarter. Williams says the team has been unable to pinpoint when or how Davis was hurt. Team officials have said the injury might have been caused by a collision with another player's elbow, but Williams says it's possible Davis injured himself.
Davis, who is averaging 24.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, is listed as day-to-day.
After playing Golden State, New Orleans hosts Utah on Tuesday night.
