NY homes agency to upgrade security after stabbing

NEW YORK (AP) New York City's housing authority says it will work to expedite security upgrades following the stabbing death of a 6-year-old boy in a public housing building that didn't have cameras and criticism from the mayor.

Mayor Bill de Blasio (dih BLAH'-zee-oh) says an ''unacceptable bureaucracy'' led to the lack of security cameras in Brooklyn's Boulevard Houses.

A 6-year-old boy was killed and a 7-year-old girl was critically injured there in Sunday's knife attack. Their assailant remains at large.

Chicago Bulls power forward Taj Gibson says the boy was his cousin.

De Blasio on Tuesday criticized the housing authority for not spending the $27 million available in its budget for security improvements such as cameras.
