New York Knicks: Where Did NYK Land In The Fandom 250?
FanSided has released the Fandom 250! Where did New York Knicks fans rank amongst the most passionate supporters in the world?
It takes a special breed of human to be a true fan of the New York Knicks. The weak of heart would have quit on this incomparable organization years ago, but those who have remained true to the orange and blue are a special few.
For as vast and international as the Knicks’ fan base may be, those who have endured the misfortune and shortcomings are in a class of their own.
FanSided has honored Knicks fans for being as relentlessly supportive as they are. The Knicks were included in the Fandom 250, which measured the best fan bases in the world of sports, entertainment, pop culture, and so forth.
Of the 250 fan bases included, the Knicks managed to be ranked at No. 51 on FanSided’s Fandom 250.
Being a New York Knicks fan is a rite of passage for most New Yorkers who grew up watching basketball being played across the five boroughs. The Knicks get to play in the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, a venue that fans fill up night after night.
Call me biased, but I’m inclined to believe the Knicks had a shot at No. 1.
The Knicks haven’t won an NBA championship since 1973, yet they have as massive a following as any team in professional sports. Those who support New York do so with brutal honesty and a passion that simply cannot be compared.
Every year is the Knicks’ year and, of course, once someone is a Knick, they’re always a Knick.
Phil Jackson is beginning to reward Knicks fans’ passion and unique form of patience with a postseason-caliber team in 2016-17. Even when New York was a laughing stock, however, fans were willing to pay top dollar and sell out Madison Square Garden.
There aren’t many teams that could maintain that incessant support.
Whether No. 51 or No. 1, Knicks fans should know that they’re the best in the world.
