New York Knicks: Chasson Randle Out With Injury
Summer league standout Chasson Randle will be out three-to-four weeks with a left orbital fracture. That won’t determine whether or not he makes the New York Knicks.
With the New York Knicks’ regular season opener approaching, roster decisions still need to be made. One of the players influencing those decisions has suffered an untimely injury.
Summer League standout Chasson Randle will be out three-to-four weeks after suffering a left orbital fracture injury during practice on Friday. Derrick Rose suffered a similar injury in 2015.
Fortunately for Randle and the Knicks, he will not require surgery.
Randle is one of the many players fighting for a roster spot for the upcoming season. His quality play during preseason was noticed by franchise player Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony has endorsed Randle to make the team.
Head coach Jeff Hornacek stated that Randle’s current injury will not play a factor in whether or not he will make the team. Knowing this, Randle will have a legitimate chance to make the cut.

The Knicks are looking to increase their depth at the point guard position because of the injury concerns involving Brandon Jennings and Derrick Rose. His explosiveness on offense (especially his 3-point shooting) is what makes him a major asset to the team.
New York was poor in shooting the 3-ball last season, ranking No. 26 in 3-point field goals made. Randle may help improve that department.
Randle had his best game of the preseason against the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. He also had three steals.
During the Summer League, he averaged 18.3 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 steals while owning a slash line of .476/.550/.800
In order for Randle to make the team, a player who is signed to a guaranteed contract will have to be waived by the team. This would create the necessary room for Randle on the 15 man roster.
