Milwaukee Bucks Preseason Preview: October 12 at Indiana Pacers
The Milwaukee Bucks are heading to Evansville to take on the Indiana Pacers on October 12. What should fans expect to see from both teams?
The undefeated Milwaukee Bucks head south to take on the Indiana Pacers in the Ford Center on Wednesday night.
Indiana is 2-1 thus far in the preseason, with wins coming over the Chicago Bulls at home and New Orleans Pelicans on the road and their sole loss coming against the Bulls in Chicago.
The Bucks have won both of their preseason games, a win against the Bulls in Chicago and another against the Dallas Mavericks in Madison.
Milwaukee has seen impressive performances from Greg Monroe and Jabari Parker in separate games thus far, although the Bucks have yet to get a typically dominant showing from Giannis Antetokounmpo yet.
That could come against Indiana, as Giannis has in the past gotten more hype when going against another dynamic small forward. Paul George could bring the best out of him. George missed the last preseason game, but according to the Pacers website he and the rest of Indiana’s starting five are set to go against the Bucks.
On the Milwaukee side of things, the starting lineup might be the most interesting part of this game for Bucks fans. Last game Bucks coach Jason Kidd used a big lineup, starting Matthew Dellavedova, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Mirza Teletovic and Greg Monroe.
The added spacing Teletovic provides is important, but that’s a huge lineup with three minus defenders in Parker, Teletovic and Monroe.
It would be no surprise to see Kidd continue to tinker with different groups. We’ve yet to see a starting five including Dellavedova, another wing like Rashad Vaughn or Michael Carter-Williams, Giannis, Jabari and a center.
A two-center lineup is another possibility, but it hasn’t been utilized yet by the Bucks this preseason. Last year the team ran some lineups with both John Henson and Miles Plumlee in relief of Monroe, to mixed results.
The play of rookies Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon continues to be an exciting topic of conversation for Bucks fans. Maker looked good and confident in his first game with the Bucks on Saturday, and Brogdon looked much better handling the ball and running the offense against Dallas.

It’s hard to draw too much useful information out of preseason games, but seeing if Monroe continues to play with as much energy and passion as he brought in the first two preseason games will be interesting as well.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bucks rest a player or two–Jason Terry has yet to play, and likely won’t for that very reason–although Milwaukee’s games are all spaced out nicely this preseason.
Finally, seeing which centers get minutes could speak to how the rotation will look in the regular season. Plumlee has seen 23 minutes, Henson has gotten 29 and Monroe has gotten 36 minutes through two preseason games thus far.
The game starts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. The game is not being televised on Fox Sports Wisconsin or streamed on Bucks.com, although the contest against the Pacers one week later will be streamed.
