Lin fortune cookie sign causes stir

Published Feb. 16, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

MSG Network won't say why it decided to air a fan's sign that depicted Jeremy Lin's face above a fortune cookie during Wednesday's Knicks game.

The image with the words ''The Knicks Good Fortune'' immediately caused a stir on social media. Lin is the NBA's first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.

Initials reports about the image incorrectly said it was an MSG Network graphic. The network posted a tweet Thursday saying, ''What appeared briefly last night was not an MSG graphic, it was one of many fan signs in the arena,'' but declined to comment further about airing an image many deemed offensive.
