Lee to get shot in Dallas rotation after sitting in Boston

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:23 p.m. ET

DALLAS (AP) David Lee kept himself ready to play even when there was little hope of the two-time All-Star getting off the bench in Boston.

Lee should get a chance to get back in a rotation with Dallas.

The veteran forward went through his first full workout with the Mavericks on Tuesday, and should make his Dallas debut Wednesday night at home against Oklahoma City. Lee was waived by the Celtics last week.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Dallas ''didn't get him to sit him.'' Carlisle says Lee more naturally fits as a backup to center Zaza Pachulia, but the 11-year veteran could be used behind Dirk Nowitzki as well.

Lee was averaging 7.1 points with career lows of 4.3 rebounds and 15.7 minutes per game in Boston.
