Lakers sign former Notre Dame big man Zach Auguste
The Lakers have added more size to their training camp roster, signing former Notre Dame star Zach Auguste.
The 6-foot-10 Auguste, who averaged 14 points and 10.7 rebounds as a senior for the Irish, played for LA's summer league team after going undrafted. He earned positive reviews for his rebounding and athleticism, though his jumper and his free throws (3 of 12) need work.
Auguste ranked 10th in the nation in total rebounds (386) last season and fifth in shooting (61.9 percent) as a junior. In last season's ACC Tournament, Auguste had a career-high 22 rebounds and 19 points as the Irish ousted Brandon Ingram and Duke.
However, the Lakers have a bit of a logjam in the frontcourt. They also added Chinese veteran Yi Jianlian and re-signed forward Tarik Black this month, as well as Timofey Mozgov and rookie Ivica Zubac earlier this summer.
