Lakers honor Kobe with these Mamba-themed socks

Of all the ways the Los Angeles Lakers have celebrated Kobe Bryant in his farewell season, this one might be the most unconventional.
The Lakers wore Kobe-themed Stance socks against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, which marked the first time that an NBA team has ever worn a piece of equipment honoring a current player.

Because of course. Why wouldn't they?
The only way the Lakers could take their celebration of Bryant's final season to a crazier level would be if they started wearing No. 24 -- or No. 8? Both? -- patches on their jerseys, retired Bryant's jersey, and then built him a statue outside of staples Center.
At this point, would any of that surprise you?
This isn't the first time a team has worn Stance socks honoring a franchise legend: The Detroit Pistons honored Ben Wallace with Wallace-themed socks when they retired his jersey earlier in the season but, again, he's retired and not a current member of the team. The Phoenix Suns did the same thing with Steve Nash when they inducted him into their Ring of Honor.
But a current player? That's unheard of. But also totally in line with the way Bryant's final season has gone.
