LA Clippers: Blake Griffin says he's 100 percent healthy

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

At the LA Clippers media day for the 2016-17 NBA season, Blake Griffin gave fans the news they want to hear by confirming that he’s 100 percent healthy.

This is exactly what LA Clippers fans needed to here. If there was a takeaway from Clippers media day that fans wanted most, it’s that Blake Griffin is fully healthy again. With the 2016-17 NBA season almost here, the team’s leading scorer being healthy again is needed for him to hit his comeback campaign with full force.

Dan Woike of the Orange County Register relayed the comment from Griffin to set the collective mind of Clipper Nation at ease.

At long last, following initial issues with misdiagnosis of his partially torn quadricep to it being aggravated again in the playoffs to cut his season short, Griffin’s lingering issue is over. With his broken hand from the incident in Toronto in the past as well now, Griffin can finally move on towards a new season, and do so at 100 percent.

Griffin said in a recent appearance on J.J. Redick’s podcast that he only took a week off after surgery as he felt like he didn’t deserve a summer break, and clearly his rehab and training has continued to go according to plan.

While Griffin couldn’t have done anything to prevent his quad injury flaring up again as he attempted to play for his LA Clippers in their hopefully (but ultimately injured) playoff run, that’s the right approach for him to have this summer.

Griffin knows that he needs to prove what he can do and step up for his team in their final season before both he and Chris Paul can test free agency. There’s a lot on the line in what could be the final season of Lob City as we currently know it.

Being motivated by a contract year and a desperate pursuit of a championship against Kevin Durant‘s Golden State Warriors is pretty good fuel to spur on Blake Griffin in his return.
