Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the postseason and be out 3-4 months after suffering a fractured knee cap in Game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday that will require surgery.

Irving’s injury will make it even tougher for the Cavs to win the series especially since they’re already down 1-0.

After news of his injury circulated, the point guard wrote the followingmessage on Instagram:

“I want to thank everyone for the well wishes. Saddened by the way I had to go out but it doesn’t take away from being apart of a special playoff run with my brothers. Truly means a lot for all the support and love. I Gave it everything I had and have no regrets. I love this game no matter what and I’ll be back soon. To my brothers: You already know what the deal is. And to Delly: “ICE it down del” *Big Perk voice *”

Delly is a reference to Matthew Dellavedova, who will replace him in the starting lineup. Delly played well in the conference finals when Irving was out and helped them reach the NBA Finals, but being able to hang with the Warriors’ backcourt is a different story.

First Kevin Love goes down for the postseason and then Irving. It’s been some rotten luck for the Cavaliers, and of course some people are going to pin this on LeBron James’ legacy if the team loses in the finals.
