Knicks Video: Brandon Jennings Dishes Another Gorgeous Dime
New York Knicks point guard Brandon Jennings continues provide the razzle-dazzle at Madison Square Garden. He’s looking like himself again.
When the New York Knicks signed Brandon Jennings, most offered team president Phil Jackson a golf clap. Though teams around the NBA had soured on Jennings, Jackson landed him on a one-year deal that only cost $5 million.
Just under two years after rupturing his left achilles tendon Jennings is looking like his prime self again.
Jennings played 48 games in 2015-16, but he was limited in his availability and production. He’s not entirely back to his borderline All-Star form, but Monday’s game against the Washington Wizards offered yet another reason to be intrigued.
Jennings brought Madison Square Garden to its feet with a flawless spin move and a gorgeous dish to Kristaps Porzingis.

In the same game, Jennings decided to reminds folks of what New York basketball is all about: the flash and the substance.

Add that to his already impressive list of gorgeous dimes.
Jennings, whose career-best averages rest at 19.1 points and 7.6 assists per game, is beginning to look like himself again. He still has some rust to shake off, but the flashy and awe-inspiring Jennings of old is shining through.
That’s a promising sign for a Knicks team that’s in desperate need of a dynamic playmaker who can facilitate the offense.
In 2015-16, the Knicks were No. 26 in assists per game and had the fourth-most isolation possessions of any team in the NBA. Carmelo Anthony averaged a career and team-high 4.2 assists per game, and Jose Calderon was No. 2 at 4.1.
If the Knicks are going to make a run to the 2017 NBA Playoffs, they’ll need a more reliable playmaker to emerge.
Jennings and Derrick Rose are being tasked with the burden of responsibility. Joakim Noah should help as a high-post passing maestro, Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez pass well out of the post, and Anthony’s made tremendous progress.
It’s Jennings who could prove to be the most exciting and productive facilitator of all.
