Knicks set postseason loss record

Published May. 4, 2012 12:56 a.m. ET

The New York Knicks set an NBA record Thursday night with their 13th straight playoff loss when they dropped Game 3 of their first-round series, 87-70 to the Miami Heat.

The Knicks had tied the 12 straight losses set by the Memphis Grizzlies from 2004-06. Their losing streak covers 11 years.

New York hasn't won a postseason game since beating Toronto on April 29, 2001, in Game 3 of a best-of-five series. The Knicks were then swept in four straight by New Jersey when they returned to the playoffs in 2004.

The Knicks didn't make it back to the postseason again until last season when they lost in four straight to Boston to extend their skid to 10 before falling into a 3-0 hole in this series.
