Kelly Oubre: 'I have to pay attention to more details'

Kelly Oubre's rookie season has so far been an uneventful one. The Washington Wizards entered the year with high expectations but are struggling to stay afloat in a surprisingly competitive Eastern Conference, and there's no time to develop a teenager in game situations, even one as talented as Oubre.

Here's what he told The Washington Times about how things are going so far:

Oubre has played 87 minutes in just 13 games. He's yet to do anything meaningful on the court. But that should change with time. Right now he just needs to be patient.

Oubre has seen less court time with the Wizards than he did in the early stages of his collegiate season. The opportunities to test new additions to his basketball repertoire in live game scenarios are scarce. When he does get the chance, he is surrounded by full-time scholars of the game eager to exploit his weaknesses. “I have to pay attention to more details,” Oubre said. “Now that there are a lot of better guys in the league … you have to make sure you’re on point in everything you do. If you’re not, your weaknesses will show.”
