Kanye West and the Warriors
A brief history of the Golden State Warriors’ casual relationship with Kanye West.
Kanye West has dominated the rap game for well over a decade now. He’s put out great singles and legendary albums. He’s one of the most recognizable figures in the field.
What has made West so great is that he’s pushed the envelope. He’s willing to take all kinds of creative risks with all of his art. He’s experimented with his music, videos, and fashion in ways that no one has ever thought of before. More often than not, it works out for the Chicago-native.
He doesn’t have any close or significant relationships with the Golden State Warriors like Drake or, even, Chance the Rapper does. But he did tweet out a gem last February that we need to re-visit.
This is a great tweet. While I had a different idea for who Steph Curry’s hip-hop counterpart is, it’s still really neat to see West making that kind of statement. Game recognize game.
The Life of Pablo artist is in the Bay Area this weekend. His first show was Saturday night. Tonight he’ll take the stage again in Oracle Arena, the house that Curry built.
A few Warriors were on hand to take in the show.

Yes, that is Draymond Green and JaVale McGee–who recently made the team–together at the Saint Pablo Tour. He was on Snapchat, recording himself belting out a few West classics like “Runaway” and “Heartless.” Seems like a pretty good time. Green was recently in Las Vegas partying with Kevin Durant and Travis Scott.
West has been seen courtside at some playoff games. Clearly, there’s a mutual respect between the eccentric West and the electrifying Dubs. Whenever hip-hop and hoops can come together, it’s pretty fun.
