Harlem Globetrotters put up for sale

Do you like whimsical, high-flying exhibition basketball and have at least $50 million to spare? If so, how would you like to be the new owner of the Harlem Globetrotters?

According to Reuters, the Globetrotters are being sold by Shamrock Capital Advisors, and are expected to command between $50 million and $100 million when all is said and done.

The Globetrotters have been doing what their name implies since 1926 — they recently joined Dennis Rodman on a trip to North Korea — and have performed more than 25,000 shows, most of them embarrassments of the lowly Washington Generals.

If you do have some interest, you should probably move quickly, though. Reuters is reporting that the selling process is in the “second round,” so there’s not much time for you to submit your bid. And given that the price of a bad NBA team these days is $534 million, $50 million for the Globetrotters seems like a steal.
