Gregg Popovich on imaginary 5-point line: Steph Curry 'would probably kill us'

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has heard your suggestions about moving the 3-point line back or adding a 4-point line to the NBA. To that, he has a rhetorical response: Why not go ahead and add 5-pointers, too?
In the very next breath, however, Popovich answered his own question: Because Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry would absolutely destroy the competition with such a shot:
Pop, vocal foe of 3-pt. shot, asks why there's no 5-pt. line, but then reconsiders: "The problem is, Steph would probably kill us." #Spurs

You'd probably have to place a 5-point line at half-court, right? Any closer and guys are just going to chuck away, because NBA players are really accurate shooters. Many can knock down wide-open half-court shots, including Curry's Warriors teammates. Even someone like Lance Stephenson channels his inner Curry from time to time.

Yet Popovich is right. As good as the rest of the league is, no one would be as lethal on 5-pointers as Curry. Give him a little bit of practice, and he'd be topping 100 points every other night.
