Gordon out 3-4 weeks; Griffin also hurt

The Los Angeles Clippers started their Tuesday learning their leading scorer could miss a month. They ended it hoping that was the good news.

Guard Eric Gordon will miss 3-4 weeks with a sprain and small fracture in his right wrist suffered Saturday night, the team announced before Tuesday's loss to the Mavericks. Gordon is averaging 24.1 points, eighth-best in the NBA.

Things got worse, however, after the game started, when star rookie Blake Griffin injured his left elbow with less than a minute to play in the third quarter after a foul by Brendan Haywood sent him to the floor. Griffin was going up for a dunk and Heywood grabbed and jerked his left arm, drawing a technical foul on the play.

Griffin finished the quarter and played part of the fourth, but left the game with an ice pack on his elbow.

"After that flagrant foul it started hurting," Griffin said of his elbow after the game. "We'll see how it is tomorrow.''

Griffin is averaging 22.8 points per game, 12th-best in the league.
