Golden State Warriors: JaVale McGee Deserves More Minutes
We hear all the time about how the Golden State Warriors are missing an inside presence, but there’s someone sitting on the bench named Javale McGee who’s very capable
JaVale McGee threw down some vicious dunks and swatted away a couple of shots during the Golden State Warriors’ 125-101 victory earlier this week against the Denver Nuggets.
McGee may have some work to do offensively but defensively he can make a huge impact on this Warriors team, who’s in dire need of an interior force – Zaza Pachulia doesn’t exactly fit the mold, or hasn’t at all this season.
And that’s were McGee can step in. When he entered the league, GM’s raved about his superior athleticism which probably hasn’t been seen from someone who is 7 feet tall.
Javale McGee is known for making countless appearances on Shaqtin’ A Fool and being a laughing stock around the league, which he isn’t too happy about. It seems like he’s on it every week. This is all due to his silly antics on the court which is almost certainly the reason why he doesn’t see the floor much.
He’s still young (turning 29 in January), though, and it doesn’t seem like he’s lost a bit of his athleticism even though he’s suffered numerous leg injuries throughout his career. This is someone who once averaged two blocks per game in just 18 minutes per night at one point in his career.
If the Golden State Warriors defense suffers any major concerns on the inside, then Steve Kerr will have to make adjustments.
Javale McGee will Also need to mature as a player if he wants to see more action. There is still time left for McGee to make a name for himself in the NBA, and it could very well come with the Warriors.
