Former NBA player and current Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested in Los Angeles on an outstanding warrant, authorities said Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Armstrong was wanted by the Clark County district attorney's office in connection with a non-sufficient funds case in Las Vegas, but further details were not immediately available, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Armstrong was arrested Tuesday morning after being stopped for a traffic violation and was released Wednesday afternoon after posting $40,000 bail.

The 43-year-old played 14 seasons in the NBA, representing the Magic, Hornets, Mavericks, Pacers and Nets, and was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 1999.
