Ellis out with concussion

Published Apr. 11, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis has been diagnosed with a concussion from a hard fall on his head in Sunday night's 104-103 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Ellis was released from the hospital Monday morning following further examination. The Warriors said he will not travel with the team for Monday night's game at Denver, the first game he will miss all season.

Ellis was already hobbled by a strained right ankle and finished with just seven points and four assists in 26 minutes. He was fouled hard by DeMarcus Cousins on a driving layup late in the fourth quarter, falling head-first onto the floor.

Ellis was briefly motionless and was so woozy when he stood up that teammates had to help him balance. He was helped to the locker room and did not return.
