Despite series loss, Paul Pierce's clutch performance impressed Danny Ainge

Boston Celtics fans, it's okay if you found yourself kind of rooting for the Washington Wizards against the Atlanta Hawks. The Paul Pierce that the Wizards saw -- and that nearly grounded the Hawks -- was a trip down memory lane for Celtics fans. And Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge was right there with the rest of the green faithful.
“I’ve really had a lot of fun watching Paul in the playoffs,” Ainge told the Boston Herald. “His team is doing well. He’s playing well. He’s just fun to watch. It’s really impressive.
“I just think it’s nice that he’s having fun, and it was fun following his friendly banter with Toronto and the success he had at the big shots he made to back it up.
“I watched from a distance, and he brought a smile to my face many times this year.”
Unfortunately, Ainge's comments came before Washington's Game 6 loss, so there's no word on how he felt about Pierce's last-second 3-pointer that was waved off.
Sorry to remind you about that shot, Wizards fans. We wouldn't have minded if it had counted, either.
