Juancho Hernangomez isn’t the flashiest player of the draft, but he may be the steal of the draft for the Denver Nuggets.

We are finally down to our last player outlook and it is none other than Juancho Hernangomez.

Hernangomez has impressed so far in Summer League and in the preseason. Even though many questioned this move in the draft, it is proving to make GM Tim Connelly look like a genius so far.

While the foreign big man may not have much information on him, he has shown tons of promise. Every fan knows of Beasley and Murray, but soon they will be talking about Hernangomez just as much.

He hasn’t gotten very many minutes and probably won’t in the regular season, but he has taken what little playing time he has gotten and made the most of it.

If he continues being productive, he may be able to carve out some extra minutes in the rotation this regular season.

Juancho is proving so far to be worth the high draft pick.

Hernangomez was actually an early entrant in the 2015 draft. He decided to withdraw and played another year overseas. This may have been a good idea because he is proving so far to be a steal for Denver.

Not much is known about his overseas experience, but he did have a terrific Summer League.

This summer, he averaged a true shooting percentage of 61% to go along with an effective field goal percentage of almost 58%. This helped him average a decent total of about 10 points per game.

He had a player efficiency rating of 9.58 and also rebounds effectively with a total rebound percentage of 12.58%. However; Hernangomez has aspects of his game he needs to improve on as is the case with all rookies.

The free throw percentage is very poor and it would be nice to see him get more blocked shots with his size and length. These may come with time though which is the bright spot.

These advanced analytics are very impressive for a rookie like Hernangomez and show how much potential he has.

Hernangomez will soon have an arsenal of skills that will scare defenses throughout the league.

Hernangomez is going down the correct path and it is imperative he continues down this way for himself and the Denver Nuggets.

Hernangomez will be a “secret weapon,” that Denver will stash this year. He may not get many minutes especially with the team being 2 deep at the big man positions, but he could turn the tide at the right moment when needed.

Look for Malone to take advantage of how he has adapted to the NBA pace nicely and use his length for rim protection to give Nurkic, Jokic, and Arthur much needed rest.

Juancho may not have Porzingis type range, but he has shown shades of possessing similar attributes and potential. If he continues to grow and develop as nicely as he has so far, Denver may become the winner of this year’s draft class in the years to come with having drafted Hernangomez, Murray, and Beasley.

It will not surprise me if Hernangomez becomes one of the most sought after role players in the midst of his career.

Hernangomez has the potential to become an Anthony Tolliver type of player; something the Nuggets could certainly utilize.
