David Blatt tried to call timeout, should have gotten technical

David Blatt caught a huge break at the end of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals when referees did not see him asking for a timeout at the end of the game.

After Derrick Rose tied the game at 84 with a layup in the final 10 seconds, Blatt wanted to call a timeout to set up a play. Video showed him walking onto the court and trying to call timeout several times. Luckily for him, his assistants knew they didn’t have a timeout left and pushed him back to the bench.

Blatt was even luckier that the refs didn’t see his request, because then he would have receive a technical foul that probably would have led to a Bulls win.

“I almost blew it,” Blatt acknowledged after the game.

Though LeBron James had the ball knocked out of his hands in the final second, the Cavs got another shot and LeBron made the buzzer-beater.
