Cavaliers PG Kyrie Irving ruled out for Game 3 vs. Hawks
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cavaliers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving will not play in Sunday night's Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals due to an injured left knee, according to multiple reports.
Irving wore a new brace on his knee for the second day in a row while taking part in the team's shootaround earlier in the day. He worked on his shooting and did some cutting at the team's facility, but he was still listed as a game-time decision. Irving sat out Game 2 in Atlanta on Friday, but the Cavs won without him to take a commanding lead over the Hawks.
Irving has been slowed by tendinitis in the knee and a sprained right foot throughout the postseason.
Matthew Dellavedova started for Irving on Friday and will likely get the nod again Sunday.
The Hawks lost top shooter Kyle Korver for the rest of the postseason with a severely sprained ankle. Kent Bazemore will start for Korver. Bazemore stood by his comments that he believes the Hawks are the better team.
