Bynum could miss two weeks

An MRI exam Saturday confirmed that the Lakers' Andrew Bynum has a strained left Achilles' tendon and not a tear, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Bynum could miss almost two weeks because of the injury he suffered Friday, and the center will be reevaluated in a week. The Lakers embark on a five-game, eight-day road trip beginning Wednesday.

"It definitely was a relief because we didn't find any tears," Bynum told the newspaper. "You never want to have that. I just have a lot of pain in that area. . . . I think I'll be all right, though. I should be good."

Bynum will wear a plastic walking boot while the injury heals.

"There's a lot of pain with it," Bynum said. "It just kind of takes a lot of pressure off."

Bynum was injured early in the third quarter Friday and did not return.

He missed 46 games in the 2007-08 season with a partial dislocation of his left knee that required off-season surgery. He was also out for 32 games last season after tearing the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
