Butler sits out game against Lakers

Published Feb. 25, 2010 2:13 a.m. ET

Mavericks forward Caron Butler did not play in Dallas' game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night after having a negative reaction to medication.

The team said Butler did not participate in Wednesday's shootaround and his status is day-to-day.

Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson were acquired from Washington as part of a seven-player deal on Feb. 13. The Mavericks came in 4-1 since the trade.

Stevenson will start in Butler's place.
