Brooklyn Nets: Jeremy Lin Gives Back to His Alma Mater

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Jeremy Lin is a graduate of Harvard University. While their athletics program is pretty good, basketball is slacking. Lin gave back to help them grow.

Jeremy Lin is a good guy. People can say this without meeting him based off of what he did previous to the Brooklyn Nets‘ season opener in Boston against the Celtics. The 28-year-old point guard donated $1 million to Harvard to use toward its basketball facilities and undergraduate financial aid.

Lin felt that it was necessary to give back to the institution that helped him grow as a man both “on and off the court.” He wanted to give back to the facilities he says he spent countless hours competing and practicing.

The Nets’ full-time point guard graduated from Harvard in 2010. Harvard has had some great years since Lin graduated. They won the Ivy League title in five of the last six years, and even won a pair of NCAA Tournament matchups despite being large underdogs.

Lin felt that Harvard is going in the right direction, and this donation will only help further that progress to help Harvard win more Ivy League titles and March Madness matchups. One million dollars will certainly be a huge boost.

The Harvard alum holds numerous records for the Harvard Crimson, including points (1,483), rebounds (487), assists (406), and steals (225). It is fair to say that Lin loves Harvard and now Harvard really loves Lin, more so than before.

Lin looks to continue his great play into this season for Brooklyn. He scored 18 points later that day against the Celtics. Brooklyn has another tough opponent Friday night in the Indiana Pacers. If Lin is on point, he will do miraculous things, just like at Harvard.
