BREAKING: Dirk Nowitzki is Out For a Week or More With Achilles Injury
During the Dallas Mavericks loss to the Portland Trail Blazers tonight, Dirk Nowitzki left the game with soreness from a previous Achilles injury.
Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki had already missed two of the teams first four games prior to tonight’s matchup against their Western Conference rival the Portland Trail Blazers. While he did play in this game, it appears that the Big German will miss more time.
After posting 5 points and 7 rebounds in 16 first half minutes, Nowitzki didn’t return for the second half of the game with an achilles injury.
Only time will tell how severe Dirk’s injury really is, as he may miss some games beyond this next week. Given his age and years played in the NBA, its no surprise that the Dunking Deutschman will have some nagging injuries this season. However, I doubt many fans believed it would happen this early, or at such a dire time for the organization following an 0-5 start.
Dirk will continue to rehab and work on his health, as we all know he is eager to return to the court with his teammates. He doesn’t need to hurry, as having Nowitzki completely healthy is more important than having him back sooner.
The Mavs will dearly miss their franchise player as they look to get the season rolling and out of this funk they are stuck in. Tune in here at The Smoking Cuban for updates on Dirk’s health and Dallas’ season.
