Bobby Portis blows away Suns staff in draft workout
Bobby Portis, the SEC Player of the Year, has seen his stock rise pretty steadily over the past few weeks, with some mock drafts placing him near the back end of the lottery. One reason for his rise: he's blowing away teams during workouts -- most recently, the Phoenix Suns. As Dave King of Bright Side Of The Sun reports:
"'What impressed us today is how he got after it defensively,' said coach Hornacek. 'He wasn't afraid, he didn't back off. He really goes after the ball on the boards. When they shot the ball, he's going to get it.'"
King goes on to say that if Hornacek's draft workout comments from previous years are any indiction, the Suns may have Portis as one of their top targets. Hornacek raved about T.J. Warren and Archie Goodwin when they worked out for the Suns, and they were both later drafted by the team.
