PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Trail Blazers All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge won't play in Wednesday night's game against the Phoenix Suns because of a left thumb injury.

Aldridge hurt his thumb in the second quarter of the Blazers' 98-95 victory against the Sacramento Kings on Monday night. X-rays following the game were negative.

The Blazers said that the 6-foot-11 power forward was evaluated by a specialist on Tuesday and an MRI is scheduled for later in the week. There is no timetable for his return, the team said.

Aldridge leads the Blazers (31-11) with averages of 23.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Portland's front line is already depleted, with centers Robin Lopez (wrist) and Joel Freeland (shoulder) out for extended periods.
