Best Season By A Hawk Wearing #5
Josh Smith (2012)
18.8 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.7 BPG, 1.4 SPG in 35.3 MPG
One of the greatest forwards in team history, Smith was the homegrown star for many 2000’s and 2010s Hawk teams. Drafted in 2004 straight out of high school, the College Park native spent his first nine seasons in Atlanta. At 6’9, Smith could do anything on the court: one of the best shot-blockers in the league, great rebounder, very good passer. J-Smoove had it all. In his 2011 season, he continued his dominance on the league. He was once again snubbed from the All-Star Game (one of the biggest travesties in team history), scoring just under 19 points a night, grabbing almost 10 rebounds and dishing out nearly four assists per game while leading the Hawks to a 40-26 record in a lockout-shortened season.
