The six-time All Star played in Atlanta for six of his fourteen NBA seasons. In his first season in Atlanta, he not only played meaningful minutes, but also coached the squad to sucess. He played in eighty games during his 1967 season, putting up decent numbers alongside a young Lou Hudson. Though this was arguably one of his better seasons, his contributions to the team’s 39-42 record meant more than one would know. Gurien was also the head coach of the Hawks during this season. Not only did he play in 80 games, but he also put together a winning game-plan for a good team.

 Who wore #19 most recently?

Pape Sy (2011)

The 6’7 small forward was drafted by the Hawks with the 53rd pick of the 2010 NBA Draft.  He played professionally in France for five years, before coming to Atlanta. He tore his Achilles before his debut training camp and never truly recovered. Sy was shipped back and forth between the D-League and the Hawks a number of times, only playing in 3 games over his NBA career. He played the full 2014-15 season in the D-League, never suiting up for the professional team. Sy never returned to the NBA after the 2011 NBA lockout, and is currently playing for SIG Strasbourg.
