Struggling near .500 barely a month ago, the Miami Heat now lead the Eastern Conference.

Boston's loss to Houston on Monday night dropped the Celtics behind Miami in the East standings. Miami is 30-9; the Celtics are now 28-9.

The last time Miami led the East this late in a season was at the end of the 2004-05 campaign, according to STATS LLC.

Miami started the season 9-8, before winning 20 of its 21 games since Nov. 27. The Heat next play on Wednesday in Los Angeles against the Clippers, looking for a franchise-record-tying 14th straight road win.
