Change looming at Rusty Wallace Inc.
Rusty Wallace Inc. general manager Larry Carter will serve as interim crew chief for the No. 62 Toyota this weekend at Iowa Speedway, management confirmed on Friday.
RWI’s Vice President, Brand Management Greg Wallace said the organization has not “been satisfied” with the on-track performance of the car this season and the move will allow the team to gain “additional feedback on the (No.) 62 program” with driver Michael Annett. Wallace added the move was comparable to placing David Reutimann in a third car to assess where the company stands in its development, which the organization has done twice this season.
A permanent change in the crew chief position will not be made until after this weekend’s race.
Jason Overstreet, who has been the crew chief for Annett, remains an “integral part” of the team according to Wallace.
Annett, 24, is currently 13th in the point standings. His best finish this season was 13th at Las Vegas in the Pilot Travel Centers Toyota.
