Stephen Strasburg ruled out of NLDS with elbow injury

Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker says the team will be without starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg for the National League Division Series and could miss more series should the team advance in the playoffs.

Strasburg has been on the disabled list since Sept. 7 after leaving his start against the Atlanta Braves after only 2 1/3 innings because of a strained flexor mass in his right arm.

"Well, you won't see [Strasburg] in the first series, and I don't even know if you'll see him, you know, maybe in the second series," Baker said on ESPN Radio. "You might see him in the World Series."

Strasburg has a 15–4 record and 3.60 ERA in 24 starts this season and ranked 10th in the NL with 183 strikeouts.

Washington faces the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLDS on Friday. Game 1 will pit Clayton Kershaw against Max Scherzer.
