Royals' Hosmer says he was once a Yankees fan (LISTEN)

Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer is a product of Florida - American Heritage High School in Plantation, FL to be exact - but he grew up rooting for a particular New York baseball team.
Prior to his Royals starting a hopefully epic battle with the New York Mets in the World Series on Tuesday night, Hosmer was a guest on the Dan Le Batard Show on Monday. During his chat, Hosmer revealed (among other things) that he spent the early portion of his life as a New York Yankees fan (for a good familial reason, though). He also divulged which football and basketball teams he supports, and his answers resulted in his being called a 'bandwagoner' from the hosts. Ouch! Take a listen:

Of course, once baseball becomes a full-time job rather than just an interest, prior allegiances (usually) dissolve. Still, with the Royals taking on a New York team in the Fall Classic, this makes for a fun little anecdote.
